In North Carolina a total of seven companies have submitted applications to offer sports betting services through North Carolina betting apps. These applications hold significance because North Carolina intends to join 28 states and Washington D.C. That already permit online sports betting. However before commencing operations the state authorities will thoroughly evaluate if these companies possess the capabilities and adhere to all regulations. The decision will be made within a span of 60 days.

While the exact commencement date for North Carolina sports betting is yet unknown as per official announcements it is unlikely to be, before February 11th—the date of the Super Bowl. Governor Roy Cooper is hopeful that it will be up and running by March when the major college basketball tournament takes place.

In order to offer sports betting these companies in North Carolina must collaborate with a sports team or a major sporting event. This recent regulation was put in place by the state. It’s similar to saying you can only sell lemonade if its at a community gathering or in partnership with a club. Several companies have already established partnerships with sports teams such as the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Hurricanes well as prominent events like golf and racing.
