North Carolina was planning to let people bet on sports starting January 8, but that’s not going to happen now. The law says that North Carolina betting apps and places where you can go to bet in person should be ready by June 14, 2024. So, we have to wait a little longer.

The people in charge, called lottery commissioners, had a meeting and said that they couldn’t start on January 8. This wasn’t a big shock because they had already kind of said this might be the case. There’s a new law that says when NC sports betting can start and what the rules are. They’ve got until the middle of 2024 to get everything working.

Ripley Rand, who leads the commission, said that before any betting starts, all the rules need to be in place and betting businesses have to ask if they can start. They can’t just open up and start taking bets. There’s a lot that needs to be done first. Cari Boyce, who helps make decisions about betting, agreed. If they were going to start soon, they’d be having meetings every day instead of just once a week.

They’ve made some changes to the rules people suggested. Now the committee approved those changes, and the whole commission will look at them in a couple of days.

There’s been some talk about a rule that says betting businesses need to work with a big sports team or some special events like NASCAR to get permission to start in North Carolina. This could be a problem for smaller companies that want to start betting businesses because they might not have these kinds of partnerships.

Someone who runs a betting business wrote on social media that they took out some rules about fantasy sports. He wondered if that was really good for the state or the people who want to bet.

The people in charge also showed how they’ll decide what sports events you can bet on and ability to launch bonuses like the DraftKings North Carolina promo code among others. There’s going to be a list online that everyone can see. If someone wants to add an event to the list, they have to ask and have a betting business support their request.

There’s also a new website, NCGaming.gov, where you can follow what’s happening with the North Carolina sports betting rules, give your opinion, and get the latest news on North Carolina betting apps and North Carolina sports betting promos.
