DraftKings recently announced a partnership with NASCAR, while BetMGM North Carolina has also forged an agreement with the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This speedway, a key location in the North Carolina sports betting scene, hosts two NASCAR races annually. However, both of these partnerships require approval from the North Carolina State Lottery Commission for granting sports betting licenses.

BetMGM and DraftKings, key players in the North Carolina sports betting apps market, were among the seven companies that applied for a sports betting license in North Carolina. They submitted their applications by December 27th. If approved, they could potentially offer online sports betting services as soon as it becomes permissible. While the exact start date is yet to be determined, the lottery commission has established guidelines that these companies must adhere to if they wish to commence operations on day one.

It’s worth noting that DraftKings‘ collaboration extends beyond NASCAR in North Carolina; they will also be exclusively providing fantasy sports for NASCAR across the United States and Canada. Joe Solosky from NASCAR expresses his enthusiasm for continuing their partnership with DraftKings, emphasizing their ability to enhance fan engagement and enjoyment.

Similarly, Greg Walter from Charlotte Motor Speedway believes that BetMGM is an excellent addition to the realm of sports betting, due to their prior collaborations with other major sporting events. BetMGM North Carolina, a collaboration between MGM Resorts International and Entain, is aimed at enhancing the enjoyment of sports viewing, boosting revenue for North Carolina supporting colleges, and attracting events in the future.

In North Carolina, companies interested in entering the sports betting industry are required to form partnerships with sports teams, golf courses hosting major tournaments, NASCAR tracks, or directly with NASCAR or the PGA Tour. This regulation, implemented in June of the previous year, has led to various North Carolina sportsbook promos and partnerships. However, some companies have expressed concerns about the implications of establishing these partnerships.

Currently, other agreements in North Carolina involve bet365 collaborating with the Charlotte Hornets, FanDuel working alongside the PGA Tour, Fanatics partnering with the Carolina Panthers, and ESPN BET joining forces with Quail Hollow Club. Underdog Sports and Caesars are also seeking licenses for operation. Caesars, which has already formed a partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, is another significant name in the North Carolina sports betting apps market.

There are opportunities for similar collaborations within North Carolina involving teams such as the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC, NC Courage; as well as venues, like North Wilkesboro Speedway and Sedgefield County Club. David Tepper owns both the Panthers and Charlotte FC franchises, while Speedway Motor Sports holds ownership of both the Charlotte and North Wilkesboro tracks.

The lottery will continue accepting applications for sports betting licenses. There is no guarantee that everyone will be approved in time to commence online sports betting in North Carolina, but the interest in North Carolina sports betting, including platforms like BetMGM North Carolina, continues to grow.
